Florida Civil Advocacy Course for Juniors
Details of Scholarships available for the 2012 South Eastern Circuit, Civil Law, Florida Advanced Advocacy Course held at the University of Florida, Gainesville willl be published shortly.

Four Scholarships are available for current members of the SEC of up to 7 years call. Applicants must be paid up members of the SEC (application for membership of the Circuit may be made at the same time). They should also practice in or predominantly practice in civil law. The course is based on a personal injury and clinical negligence trial.
An application for accreditation for CPD has been made. The previous courses have attracted 45 hours of CPD, (all of the hours for the new practitioners programme) including 9 hours of advocacy and 3 hours of ethics.
The applications will be assessed by a panel and those selected notified by email. Applications will be considered against the following criteria:-
1. Demonstration of above average written and advocacy skills.
2. Demonstration of diverse experience and detailed knowledge of civil law and procedure.
3. Sound understanding of the Independent Bar of England and Wales.
4. The benefits they will gain from attending the course.
Successful candidates will fund and arrange their own travel. They will be expected to travel to Gainesville in time to attend the course on 10 May 2011. The course fees and accommodation are all funded by Scholarships from the Florida Bar Association and the Trial Lawyers Section.
